Certificates, ID cards and event badges

How do I make certificates for many people at once?

In the Builder, describe the certificate you want and what it should say, then paste in your list of names. One certificate is made for each name, and a single button downloads them all as PDF or PNG files. Bangla names come out correctly. ID cards and event badges work the same way.

What you are building

A small tool with a box at the top for your list of names and the finished certificates shown below it. One button downloads them all as PDF files, or as PNG pictures if you prefer.

The certificate it makes

The same recipe gives you training course certificates, school prize certificates, club membership cards, office ID cards and seminar badges. Bangla names and English names both come out correctly.

Step by step

Step 1: Go to the Builder tab, give it a name such as "Computer course certificate", then press to start building.

Step 2: Say exactly what the certificate should say:

Build me a certificate tool. The certificate should read: Alor Poth Training Centre, Certificate, this is to certify that, then the student's name in large letters, then has successfully completed the three month computer training course. Date at the bottom left and space for the director's signature at the bottom right. Landscape paper, a gold border all around, in cream and dark green. Add a button that downloads the certificate as a PDF.

Step 3: Press Send and the certificate appears on the right. Put in one name and download the PDF to check it looks right.

Step 4: Now set it up for many people at once. Ask like this:

Now let me paste many names into a box at the top, one name per line. Make a separate certificate for each name, and give me a button that downloads them all as PDF files at once, each file named after the student.

Step 5: Paste your list in. Copy the name column straight out of your office spreadsheet and paste it into the box. If you also want roll numbers or batches, say "I will give the name and roll separated by a comma on each line, put both on the certificate".

Step 6: Press the download button. When the files arrive, open two or three of them to check, then send each person their own certificate.

ID cards and event badges

An ID card is small and upright and carries a photo, while a badge usually has a name, an organisation and a QR code. In the same tool, say "now make it ID card sized, photo on the left, name, designation and ID number on the right, and a QR code at the bottom that opens our site". You can also ask for several cards laid out on one sheet for printing, which saves paper.

Ways to make it better

What to do next

Once the tool is built, every new batch only needs a new list of names, nothing has to be rebuilt. Give the share link to someone else at your institution and they can download their own copies. And for an event you can feed the same list into badges and an attendance sheet as well, you only have to ask.

Beginner questions

Does the certificate have legal weight?

It is recognition from your institution, exactly like one you would print. Government-issued papers of course do not come from here.

Do I type 30 names one by one?

No, paste the whole list at once (typed or as a file) and each PDF comes out separately.

Can a QR make them verifiable?

Yes, each certificate can carry a QR pointing to your verification page. Ask for "a verification QR". That page shows the list you put into it, so when you issue a new certificate, update the list and press Publish again.
