Keeping Code on GitHub
How do I keep my app's code on GitHub?
Putting your code on GitHub means you can never lose it. Create a free GitHub account, generate a Personal Access Token with repo permission, then paste it into BanglaCodes Settings and press Connect. After that the GitHub button pushes and pulls your app in a single click.
Why do you need GitHub?
GitHub is the most popular place to keep code. If your app lives there it will never be lost, and one day in a job interview you will be able to say "have a look at my GitHub". It is like a developer's CV.

How to connect
- Open a free account at github.com (if you do not have one).
- From GitHub's Settings, create a Personal Access Token. It is GitHub's own key, not the BanglaCodes Token, two different things. While creating it, tick the box marked repo. Direct link: github.com/settings/tokens
- In BanglaCodes Settings, paste the Token into the "GitHub" section and press Connect.
That is it, you only do it once. The Token is stored encrypted, and even we cannot see all of it.

Push and Pull
- Send to GitHub (Push): press the GitHub button inside the app and the whole app goes up to your GitHub. If the repo does not exist it will create one for you (as a private one).
- Bring from GitHub (Pull): want to bring work from an old repo here and edit it with AI? Give the repo name and the files will come across.
Remember: Push changes the files on GitHub, Pull changes the files here. But before a Pull, the state here is saved as a version, so there is nothing to lose.
Beginner questions
What is GitHub, do I even need it?
Not at all. It is a vault where programmers keep code. If you are not curious, skip this whole page.
If it goes to GitHub, can everyone see my code?
The repo is created private: only you can see it. To make it public, change its visibility from the repo's Settings on GitHub.
Is GitHub sync a paid thing?
No, it works on the free plan too.
