Independence Day, Victory Day and 21 February poster design

How do I design a poster for Independence Day, Victory Day or 21 February on my phone?
Write in Bangla which day it is, the exact line, and who it is from. The poster takes the day's mood: mourning black and white for Ekushe, red and green for March and December. Every letter is set in a real Bengali font, so there is no broken Bangla on the language day of all days. Then download the PNG for Facebook or for the school wall.
Three steps to a national day poster
- Settle the day and the line: Which day, the exact big line, and whose name goes below. For a programme poster, type the times and place yourself.
- Ask for the day's colours: For Ekushe say "black and white, a little red"; for Victory or Independence Day, "red and green". Then change things one at a time.
- Post before the morning: Download the PNG the night before. Post it on Facebook that morning, and if the school needs prints, give it to the press two days ahead.
Three national days, three moods
- 21 February: Shaheed Day and International Mother Language Day. A day of mourning and respect; the national flag flies at half mast. So not "greetings" but "deep respect" or "Amar Ekushe". Colours: white, black and a little red.
- 26 March: Independence and National Day. A day of pride. "Greetings on great Independence Day" is fine, in red and green.
- 16 December: Victory Day. A day of joy, the victory of 1971. Bright designs suit red and green, and you can add one line of respect for the martyrs of the Liberation War.
No spelling or date mistakes on a national day poster
A misspelling on a language day poster is the first thing anyone sees. AI pictures break Bengali letters and turn "Ekushe" into scribbles. Here every word is set in a font, exactly as you typed it.
Check a few spellings beforehand: the Bengali "21she" is written joined to the number, and "Shaheed Minar", "Muktijuddho" and "Probhatferi" have set spellings. If you give a year, type it yourself; for "the Nth Independence Day", count from 1971 and be sure before you print.
The flag and the Shaheed Minar, with respect
If the flag appears, get it right. Under the Flag Rules 1972 the length to width is 10:6, a red circle on green; the circle's radius is one fifth of the length, and its centre is not in the middle but at nine twentieths of the length from the pole side. Ask for "the flag in the Flag Rules proportions", and after downloading check that the circle sits a little towards the pole.
An AI-drawn Shaheed Minar usually comes out wrong: the number of columns or the red circle behind them. Photograph your own school's or area's Shaheed Minar and give it to the builder, or build the poster from words and colour alone. Do not have the AI invent the faces of language martyrs or freedom fighters; for a real photo, check the source's permission.
No party symbols on a national day poster
National days belong to everyone. A greeting from a shop, school, club or office carries only that institution's name and logo at the bottom. A school's national day programme: poster and schedule
At schools and clubs the day means a programme: the dawn procession, laying wreaths, a discussion, essay and drawing contests, prize giving. Type each part's time on the programme poster yourself; the builder will not add times. For the winners there are certificates, and the host's MC script can be written here too.
An honest word: a "poster drawing" contest for Independence Day wants the pupil's own hand-drawn picture. Do not submit an AI poster there; this page is for promotion and greeting posters.
Sizes for national day posters and banners
- Facebook post: square 1:1, the usual choice for a morning greeting.
- Story and WhatsApp status: tall 9:16; it carries the day's message as well as a profile frame does.
- School notice board and wall magazine: A4 or A3 for printing, upright.
