Can I design a leaflet on my phone, in Bangla, ready for print?
Yes. Write what goes on it: the offer or news, three to five points, the address and phone number, and say "A5 for printing" or A4. The words are set in a real Bengali font and the leaflet downloads as a picture; check the size and take it to a print shop. The design is free here; the shop does the printing.
Three steps to designing a leaflet
- Write the points and the size: The headline, three to five points, the address and the number, plus the print size: A5 or A4, one side or two.
- Read every line: When the leaflet appears, read every name, date and number. To change something, say it in Bangla, like "make the points bigger".
- Download it for the print shop: Press the download button and the leaflet lands on your phone as a PNG. Check the size, then give the file to the print shop or send it on WhatsApp.
No more sitting in a compose shop for a leaflet
A leaflet usually means a trip to a computer compose shop: someone types while you sit beside them pointing out spelling mistakes, and changing one line means going back. When the shop is shut, so is your work.
Here you write on your phone what goes on the leaflet, and it is laid out for you in a real Bengali font. The spelling stays exactly as you wrote it, and even at midnight you can change a point and download a new picture.
What fits on one leaflet
People hold a leaflet for about ten seconds, then pocket it or throw it away. Write more than can be read in those ten seconds and the main point gets lost.
- One headline at the top: the offer or news, like "Admission open" or "Eid discount on everything". The biggest thing on the leaflet.
- Three to five points: why people should come to you. Not "experienced teachers" but something specific: "a test every week", "fifteen students a batch".
- The address and a landmark: the road and the area plus somewhere everyone knows, like "next to the bazaar mosque".
- The phone number: in the boldest type, on one line at the bottom. Type it yourself and check it digit by digit after downloading.
- A QR code, if you have a site: download your site's QR code from the site manager, give it to the leaflet's builder and ask for it in a corner; a phone camera pointed at it opens the site.
The front of the leaflet and the back
A one-sided leaflet keeps everything on one page and is simpler to print. With two sides, put the headline, three big points and the number on the front, so the useful part shows the moment it is in someone's hand; put the detail on the back: batch times, the subject list, admission rules, how to get there.
For two sides, say so when you write: "a front and a back, downloaded as two separate pictures". Check the two pictures are the same size, and tell the print shop which one is the front.
Leaflet sizes for print: A5 or A4
Most leaflets are A5, half a sheet of A4: easy to hand over and to fold into a bag. With more to say, like a madrasa's admission rules or a full batch timetable, use A4. Say the size when you write: "A5 for printing, upright".
Before going to the print shop, open the leaflet picture in your phone gallery and look at its details, where the size is shown in pixels. Print shops commonly ask for 2480 × 3508 pixels for A4 and 1748 × 2480 for A5; if yours asks for another size, write that to the builder.
Handing out photocopies? Then ask for a black-and-white design. A colour leaflet turns grey and muddy on a photocopier, while black words on white paper come out cleanest.
Leaflets for coaching centres, madrasas, shops and home tutors

Private tuition ads: which classes and subjects you teach, which areas, at the student's home or yours, and a contact number. Add one line about your own studies; parents look for exactly that before they trust a tutor.
Shop offer leaflets: which products are discounted, until when, and where the shop is. Put your logo at the top; for the next offer, change just the dates and prices on the same leaflet.
Where to hand out leaflets
- At the school gate when classes let out, into parents' hands; the best spot for coaching and tuition leaflets
- Folded into the newspaper through the local hawker; it reaches every home in the neighbourhood at once
- At the mosque gate after Jumma, for madrasa or mahfil news
- Post the leaflet picture itself in local Facebook groups and on WhatsApp; more people see it without any paper
What a leaflet costs

Printing is a separate cost, set by the print shop: the paper, colour or black and white, one side or two, and how many copies. We do not print, so we will not quote a rate; describe the same job to two or three shops and ask.

Which file do I give the print shop?
