The problem with one link
Facebook page, Instagram or TikTok, everywhere the bio takes only one link.
But you need many: taking orders on WhatsApp, the price list, the shop address, photos of earlier work, maybe a YouTube channel.
So what people do: put the WhatsApp link in the bio, and keep writing everything else again and again in the comments of every post. Some read it, some do not.
A link-in-bio page is the plain answer to this problem: one page, with all the buttons under it.
What the page looks like
Small, long and made for the phone.
At the top the shop name and logo, and in one line what you do. Below that big buttons, one under the other, the size to press with a finger.
The name of each button should tell the job:
- Order on WhatsApp
- See the price list
- Where the shop is (map)
- Photos of earlier work
- Facebook page
Do not keep more than five or six buttons. The more choices, the fewer presses.
The order is the real decision
The top button gets the most presses, so it should be the job you want most.
For a shop it is almost always the WhatsApp order. For a service, booking a serial (appointment). For a creator, the new video.
What is less needed goes lower. And a button nobody presses, remove after three months.
What to say when you build it
Being specific helps most here.
An example prompt, written in Bangla for the builder. It says: "Make a link-in-bio page, long, for the phone. At the top the shop name 'Rahim Store', below it in one line 'Local Bangla clothing shop in Mirpur'. Then five big buttons: order on WhatsApp, price list, address on the map, Facebook page, Instagram. Light colours, big text, in Bangla."
Do not forget to give the links by hand, or the buttons will be there but will not take anyone anywhere.
What this page cannot do
Two things are good to know first.
It cannot take cards, but it can take bKash and Nagad. Add your own bKash, Nagad or Rocket number in the site manager and the page that takes orders gets a payment box with a place for the TrxID, free on every plan (the post on taking payments online). For cards, or your own bKash Merchant or SSLCommerz link as a button, you need the Business plan. Either way the money goes to your own account.
The page does not send you messages by itself. Until you take hosting, even if someone fills in a form, nothing is stored, whatever link they came by. If you want to store submissions, you need hosting.
So for most small shops the most useful button is WhatsApp, because it brings the message straight to you at no cost.
How to make the WhatsApp button work
Instead of only opening the chat, ask for a line to be filled in beforehand, for example "Assalamu alaikum, I want the price list."
This gives two gains. The customer does not have to think what to write, and you know from the message where they came from.
It is even better to keep a different line on each button, because then you can tell which button is working.
Questions and answers
Is this a website? You could call it a small one-page site. The difference is in the purpose: an ordinary site tells about you, and this page only sends people to the next step. So there is little writing here and the buttons are big.
How many buttons should I keep? Five to six. With more, people stop reading and press none. If you remove the one nobody uses, the rest get more presses.
Will it work without hosting? In most cases it will. When you publish for free the page goes live at your-name.banglacodes.app, and the job of the page is only to show and to send. You need hosting only when you want the address on your own bought domain, or want to store what forms collect. Removing the badge at the bottom does not need hosting, it goes away with any purchase.
Can I see how many people came to the page? Yes. The visitor count of any live site shows on the app's home page, including a site published for free: how many today, how many in seven days. No plan is needed for this.
Should I keep the price list on this page? If the list is small you can keep it on this page. If it is big, make a separate page and keep a button for it, or the page gets long and the buttons at the top slide down.
A separate page for Instagram and Facebook? One is enough. But if you like, you can use two links for the two places, and then you can tell which platform brings more people.
If I change the links, do I have to change the bio link too? No, as long as the page's address stays the same. Change the buttons inside as much as you like, and the bio link stays the same. This is the biggest benefit of this arrangement.
Can the page later become a bigger site? Yes. Tell the builder to add new pages and it becomes a full site, and the bio link keeps working.
In short
- A bio takes only one link, and this page is that link
- A long page for the phone, big buttons, no more than five or six
- The top button gets the most presses, so it is your main job
- Put a filled-in line into the WhatsApp button beforehand
- It cannot take cards, but your bKash and Nagad numbers can go on it; without hosting form submissions are not stored
- The bio link stays the same even when the buttons inside change
