Blog posts and new pages on your own site, without knowing HTML

The short answer

How do I add a new page or a blog post to my own website?

In the site manager's page section you can write a new page or post with no code. Enter an address, a title and the text, save, and it goes onto the site. If the address starts with blog/, the posts are listed together automatically. You can write up to 5 pages on a free account, 15 with lifetime hosting, 50 on Business and 200 on Commerce.

The real work starts after the site is built

Once a site is standing, most people get stuck in one place: what do you do when you want to write something new?

Everyone finds where to change a price, change a photo or fix a phone number. But it is not clear where you go to do "let me put up a post about this month's offer" or "we need an about us page".

The place is inside the site manager, and you do not need to know code.

Pages and posts are two different things

KindWhat it is forExample
PageSomething that does not changeAbout us, terms, contact
Blog post (starts with blog/)Something that piles up by dateThis month's offer, a new product arrived

The difference is in the address. A page stands alone, and pages whose address starts with blog/ are listed together automatically, newest on top.

A shop usually needs both: a few permanent pages, and one place where new news collects.

How to write one

In the site manager, go to the page section and add a new page. You need three things:

Address. Where the page will sit on the site, for example amader-somporke. Lowercase English letters, numbers and dashes work. If it is a blog post, start the address with blog/, for example blog/eid-offer, because pages at that address are the ones that get listed automatically.

Title. The name shown at the top of the page. This is different from the address, and you can write it in Bangla or any language your customers read.

Text. Write in plain words. To start a new paragraph, leave one blank line between them, because pressing Enter alone keeps you in the same paragraph. To add a heading, type ## at the start of the line.

Save. Saving means it goes live. You do not have to publish again separately.

Many people miss the last one, so once more: saving on this page means it is on the live site. After saving you can go to your site and check it.

How many pages you can write

PlanPages
Free account5
Lifetime hosting15
Business50
Commerce200

You can write pages even on a free account. This was not possible before. Five pages means about us, contact, terms and two posts: enough for the start of most small shops.

When you reach the limit, the page tells you, and you can delete an old page to free up space.

What helps you get found on Google

The more real writing a site has, the more things Google can show it for.

A shop with a single page has an answer to one question for Google. But if you have a post on "how to wash a winter blanket", you also show up for that question, and the person who arrives sees your blankets too.

This is why the blog part is not decoration for a shop. It is a way to bring customers.

Two things are worth remembering. Write about what you really know, because borrowed writing is easy to spot. And write regularly, even once a month, because that works better than writing ten in one day and going quiet for six months.

The other steps to get found on Google are covered separately in the post on showing your shop on Google.

What to write if nothing comes to mind

For a shop, these almost always help:

  • The answer to the question customers ask most
  • How to use or take care of a product
  • This month's offer, or what has just arrived
  • The story of your shop: when it started and why

For a service business, two more: how long the job takes, and what the price depends on.

If you cannot start, tell the builder chat in your own words what you want to write about, and a draft will come. Then fix it up your own way and put it on the page.

The pages and blog posts you write are part of the site, so Google can read them too.

What to decide before you write

Make the title something people really search for. "Our new collection" is searched by far fewer people than "Winter blankets: which one is for whom".

And at the end of each post, give the reader the next step: where to order, which number to call. A reader who is impressed and walks away has done nothing for you.

The rules for changing text and photos on the site are in the post on changing your site yourself, and what each plan gives is in the post on hosting plans.

Questions and answers

Do I need to know HTML to write a page? No. You give an address, a title and the text. To start a new paragraph, leave a blank line between them, because pressing Enter alone keeps the line in the same paragraph. To add a heading, put two hash marks and a space at the start of the line. You do not need to write code.

Do I have to publish again after saving? No. Saving on the site manager page means it goes onto the live site. This is the most useful thing about this page, because you do not have to go back to the builder and publish again.

Can I write pages on a free account? Yes, up to 5. It is 15 with lifetime hosting, 50 on Business and 200 on Commerce. When you reach the limit, the page tells you.

What is the difference between a blog post and a page? The difference is in the address. An ordinary page stands alone, like about us or contact. Pages whose address starts with blog/ are listed together automatically, newest on top. What does not change is a page, and what piles up is a post.

Will my writing show up on Google? The pages are part of the site, so Google can read them. But it takes time and nobody can promise it. Writing regularly about what you truly know raises the chance.

Can I delete an old page? Yes. When you reach the limit you can delete an old one to free up space. Think before you delete, because if someone has linked to that address, the link will stop working.

Can I have AI write it? You can. Tell the builder chat in your own words what you want to write about, and a draft will come. It is better to fix the draft your own way, because you know your shop best.

Can I choose the page address myself? Yes, you write the address yourself, and it has no connection to the title. Lowercase English letters, numbers and dashes work. A short, clear address is easy for people to remember.

  • Saving means live, and you do not publish separately
  • 5 pages on free, 15 with lifetime hosting, 50 on Business, 200 on Commerce
  • Pages are for permanent things, posts are for news that piles up by date
